Bouvaque Park

At the North of the city, make the most of a nice walk in a natural setting.

Near the city centre of Abbeville, and easily accessible from the Boulevard de la République, the name of this park comes from the words “Bos” (boeuf- ox in English) and “Vacca” (vache – cow in English). Indeed the inhabitants used to have their bovines pasture in the marshes.

This park has two large ponds and is surrounded by a wood. An observation hut was built onto a peninsula near the centre of the principal pond. The richness of the fauna and the flora remains unsuspected by most of walkers. Willows, reed beds, beautiful and remarkable trees, aquatic herbariums with rushes and sedges, salicaires, yellow iris and orchids can be observed…

A path, built over around the banks and along the streams, allows to discover the fauna of amphibians and birds: the small islands, the ponds and the damp meadows are favourable to the presence of migratory birds.

The blue springs contribute to the rarity of this preserved natural site. Come and discover them!

The park is opened all the year, in summer from 7am to 8 pm and in winter from 9am to 5.30 pm. You’ll see birds, ponds and above all relax in this beautiful park.
